Argumentative Essay 2 - First Draft

Is the Facebook Great Invention or End of the Privacy

Facebook was built on the idea that users connect and share personal information with each other and it has been named as the best invention of the decade according to a survey. About 1000 users participated in this survey and they are asked the name of their favorite invention. Facebook are termed as the best invention of the decade by 73% of the users. But, in recent years Facebook become a controversial topic for people. While Facebook has lots of aficionados, it reveals the end of privacy. In my view, people should be careful about their personal information in Facebook and they should not forget that their user IDs would be stolen by strangers, their photos would be used for bad aims or tagged and whatever they write or do in their special life is known by other people.

First, people should not share all information about their IDs on Facebook because their information can be stolen by others even if they set their privacy settings carefully. People are supposed to write their IDs to use this application. The ID includes their name, surname, hometown, business office, even their street name. It is the fact that the %23 of Facebook users do not use privacy settings. So, other people can reach their personal information owing to this social media and there are some hackers who can do this easily. For example, people who reached your information can use your ID and they can tell others something bad as if they were you.  Nobody thinks that others can follow the IDs and he/she can get in trouble because of it.

Second, people should not upload all their photos to Facebook because these photos can be stolen for bad aims and tagged by others. While people are uploading their photos to Facebook, There is a tag suggestion that who will be tagged in their photos. This feature gives people an ability to tag their friends in photos. When they are tagged in a photo, it is seen by their friends’ friends and strangers. So, they need to adjust their privacy settings. In addition to these, as long as people click the like button, their photos can spread to a lot of users and their privacy could be misused by others. For example, companies who reached your photos can advertise your photos. Everybody knows that using someone’s photos without any permission is illegal.

Finally, people should be aware of whatever they do in their special life and write is known by everybody. Posting what they are doing and sharing their location can be not good sometimes. For instance, you went to somewhere with your friends without any permission from your family. One of your friends checked you in at this place. If it is visible to everyone, your family can know where you are and with whom. This event can cause an argument between you and your family. Another point is that people know what you have written on your Facebook and your chatting can be available to everyone. There is anything remains secret because of it.

In conclusion, with the new feature of Facebook, a lot of people became addicted to it. It is clear that Facebook is the end of the privacy because people’s IDs are used to deceive people, people’s photos can be abused and what they are doing is not remain secret. People should not forget that it is an invention that reveals all intimacy of people and I do not think, everyone has a right to know our private life.

Argumentative Essay 1 - First Draft

SHOULD SCHOOLS PROVIDE MORAL EDUCATION FOR YOUTH, OR SHOULD INSTRUCTION  IN VALUES BE LEFT TO PARENTS?

Moral education can be described as an education that can help to teach ethics, values and good behaviors such as politeness to young children. In our society, there are two opposed views that schools should provide moral education for youth or instruction in values should be left to parents. Some people still have biases about the teaching of values in schools. In my view, education which is given in the family is not adequate for children, so schools provide moral education for youth. I think that education which is systematically given by specialists will be more effective for children.
First, children can learn the moral values in classes where the moral education is given with the help of specialists. As we know, the first education starts with family. Children learn the basic things like what is right or wrong from their family, but it does not mean that all of the children know them because sometimes family is not a good role model for children in terms of drugs and alcohol. Parents educate their children not to smoke cigarettes; however, many children live in homes where the cigarette is smoked. In my opinion, values depend on our character and personality. The most important thing is to understand children’s characteristic features and directing them according to their traits. For these reasons, values education classes should add curriculums.
Second, the ethic is an important topic and children should learn some ethical values such as fairness and honesty. These can be learned in schools where provide children moral classes with the help of experts in their early ages. Experts know how to teach and develop children’s moral values Experts train children with some special methods such as working with a group students like therapy speaking them good sides of the honesty. After that, values education programs assist children to shape their life according to good values.  As long as they practiced and come across ethical topics, they accept to be honest and they can reflect what they have learnt to their social life.
Finally, moral values should be a major subject from kindergarten to college.  Children should learn moral values and respect the rights of others. Parents cannot help their children to develop their moral values because parents do not know how to teach values and direct their children and parents also should be educated in this topic. Sometimes, they can make mistakes in terms of being a good model and misdirect their children’s future behaviors. For example, some drivers cross red lines when there are no cops around. Sometimes they do not slow down when they are approaching a pedestrian lane even if they see that a person is crossing pedestrian lane. This kind of events can cause accidents due to the fact that lack of moral values.

In conclusion, schools provide moral education for youth because parents cannot teach the values their children properly. With a good education which schools provided, children can distinguish what is right or wrong, so they can reflect good behaviors to their social life and they can make a decision between good and bad behaviors. Briefly, schools and specialists who will lead children have an important role to teach children moral values.
